Local Initiatives

In partnership with the nonprofit Jeffersonville Main Street Inc., the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association offers grant programs to help revitalize downtown businesses and homes: the Front Porch Project and the Storefront Improvement Program.

The Front Porch Project is an award-winning program that has thus far leveraged grant funds into more than $150,000 of investment to assist property owners in the exterior preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation of homes in traditional downtown neighborhoods. Owner-occupied residences are eligible for grants up to $3,000, and recipients are required to match any funding they receive. The boundaries of the Front Porch Project are the Old Jeffersonville National Register District and the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Zone.

The Storefront Improvement Project utilizes a grant from the Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association to assist building owners in making exterior improvements to commercial properties. These dollar-for-dollar matching grants are available for up to $10,000. To be eligible, commercial properties must be located on Court Avenue, Spring, Maple, Chestnut, Market, Wall or Pearl streets, or Riverside Drive.  The outer boundaries of the area are Seventh, Wall and Pearl streets and Riverside Drive.

Commercial Façade Improvement Program

The Jeffersonville Urban Enterprise Association offers grants to commercial/industrial businesses and property owners within the UEZ for a variety of purposes.  The JUEA’s main objectives for the façade grant program are to encourage visual improvements, historic preservation and economic reinvestment.  Eligible projects include general building/property improvements, for example: exterior painting, or repairs, signage, awnings, landscaping and parking lot resurfacing.  Projects that are comprehensive in scope are given more weight for consideration. (All improvements must comply with approved City of Jeffersonville Planning and Zoning Corridor design plan and requirements).  Funds are limited and are on a first come, first basis.
